I serve as the Faculty Advisor for ONE at UCF Chapter; a new Registered Student Organization at UCF launched by my student Banke Aluko. Banke was my student in my SLS 1501 Strategies for Success class within the Global UCF Global Achievement Academy. She is an international student from Nigeria, Africa and an extremely dedicated advocate for human rights and international relations. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International and Global Studies at UCF and has created the ONE Campaign UCF Chapter to bring awareness and advocacy for aids and malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Through her work with the Career Accelerator at Global UCF, she has established a phenomenal student organization that sheds light on international issues and addresses extreme poverty, preventable disease, gender equality, economic growth, clean energy, peace and justice, youth employment, quality education, and much more.
ONE at UCF strives to combine the crucial elements of advocacy campaigns with the energy and activism unique to the college experience. We bring light to international issues, the Global Goals and address extreme poverty, preventable disease, gender equality, economic growth, clean energy, peace and justice, youth employment, and quality education. Within this new Registered Student Organization, students have had the opportunity to visit Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. as well as the Florida Senator's office in downtown Orlando, Florida.
ONE at UCF advocates to end extreme poverty and preventable disease worldwide. ONE is a global movement campaigning to end extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030, so that everyone, everywhere can lead a life of dignity and opportunity.
Below are pictures from our campus outreach and General Body Meeting, where we discussed ONE at UCF initiatives, goals, events, upcoming trips, and the creation of promotional items.
